Taking Charge of Your Health: Brittany Ramunno's Journey to Functional Medicine

In 2018, Brittany Ramunno faced a significant health challenge: she underwent a partial thyroidectomy, a procedure that involves removing half of the thyroid gland. Like many others in her situation, Brittany expected this surgery to help resolve her health issues. Instead, it marked the beginning of a difficult and frustrating journey through the healthcare system.

After her surgery, Brittany was placed on thyroid medications. However, instead of finding relief, she was met with a series of dismissive responses from doctors. They told her that her symptoms were "in her head" and that losing weight required more than just eating less. For two years, Brittany played what she describes as a game of "musical chairs" with different doctors, trying to find answers and solutions. But rather than improving, her health deteriorated. She gained weight, developed acne, was diagnosed with diabetes, and also learned she had polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Feeling defeated, Brittany almost gave up on finding a solution. But then she discovered functional medicine—a branch of healthcare that seeks to understand the root causes of symptoms rather than just treating them. This approach changed everything for her. Through functional medicine, Brittany began to understand why her body was reacting the way it was. Instead of being dismissed or given a one-size-fits-all solution, she finally found a path to healing that made sense for her unique needs.

This life-changing experience led Brittany to discover her true purpose: helping other women who have been told the same dismissive things she once was. Brittany is now on a mission to empower women to take control of their health. She believes it’s time to stop accepting being shuffled from doctor to doctor, being told that their symptoms aren’t real, or that they simply need to eat less and do more to lose weight.

Brittany’s message is clear: It’s time for women to take charge of their health and demand better care. Through her journey and her newfound dedication to functional medicine, she is helping others find the answers they deserve and reclaim their well-being.
